Looking for a true Hawaiian adventure? In ancient days, houses were built by hand with materials found on the local land. There were no nails, there were no screws. All materials were gathered and prepared on site using the most basic of tools.

Our hale is made the traditional way, crafted by the hands of a Kahuna Kuhikuhi Pu'uone (Traditional Master House Builder). In the traditional system of building Hales, no nails were used for building supports. In stead, an intricate system of lashings has been used to hold the structure together. The building itself is not only physically solid, but is infused with the traditional prayers of the builders.

All wood used for support is local Iron Wood, cured in the ocean of Hana for over 30 days. The thatch roof is made of palm fronds ( lo'lu ), gathered locally on the property. Made with no hard wired electricity, our hale will be lit with solar powered light torches.

If you are interested in old Hawaiian ways, this hale is a must see. It is located on our property, in a secluded section of our two and a half acres. Stepping into it is like stepping into old Hawaii.
